What is Sports & Remedial Massage?
Recommended for anyone who exercises regularly or participates in a sport, Sports & Remedial Massage are Soft Tissue Therapy treatments in a sporting or injury context.
Sports Massage focuses on ensuring that you perform optimally in your chosen sport, both physically and mentally.
Remedial Massage focuses on helping you to recover from an injury so that you can return to your daily activities and/or sport as quickly as possible with my support.
A Note from Heather
You may have heard that Sports Massage “hurts,” or heard others say, “no pain, no gain.” However, sports massage should not hurt or be painful.
The purpose of the treatment is to work with your nervous system, and if the treatment hurts, you’ll tense up, which works against your nervous system. Yes, we may find tender or sore spots as part of the process, and if we do, we’ll work to calm them down so that you leave feeling better—and in less pain—than when you walked through the door.

When included as a regular part of your training programme, I can also provide guidance on injuries and help you recover to ensure that you can stay in the game.
I am available for ongoing support as part of your training programme. I also personally recommend coming in for treatments before and after an event as this helps you to prepare, both physically and mentally, for competition as well as calming your body down and relaxing after the event.

Sessions may include an assessment of any injuries (if applicable), gait analysis, treatment, and review of progress.
We will also plan your personal journey to ensure that you achieved your desired outcome goal and continue to perform at the top of your game.
The first treatment is usually 75 or 90 minutes long, and follow-up treatments can be either 60, 75 or 90 minutes.
